Not a complete list, but here are photos of many of the dizzying number of civilian and military air show performers who entertained crowds at the EAA’s AirVenture Oshkosh 2021 extravaganza. Every afternoon of the “Convention”, there’s a four to five hour-long air show packed with different performers each day. And every day’s line-up is different.

Some participants present full flight demonstrations, especially military jets. Others fly full aerobatic routines. Still others perform flypasts, which gives spectators a look at new technologies in flight.

Some pilots have been performing on the big stage for many years, while others are enjoying their first time flying in front of the knowledgeable crowd.

To me, “Ultralight” used to mean a non-traditional type of aircraft… usually a single seat variety with a little engine and a structure that didn’t instill a lot of confidence. Over the past few years though, my thoughts have changed a lot, for a number of reasons. 

At the EAA’s AirVenture Oshkosh 2021, For me, ultralights and newer light sport aircraft (LSA) groups used to be a small segment of the annual convention, tucked away towards the south end of the airport. Now, it is now a mainstream and must-see destination at the huge event. The Fun Fly Zone contains a dedicated grass airfield for ultralights and LSAs, and was busy place during all hours except when the afternoon and evening air shows occurred...
