Yes, that’s right. All of these aircraft were designed at least seventy years ago… in 1950 or earlier. Many examples of these aircraft are are still commonplace at airports around the world, although they might be much younger in years than the original prototypes. Under each photo is the manufacturer and the year that the first prototype of the aircraft flew.  Its hard to believe that some models are approaching three quarters of a century of usefulness!

First Look – EAA AirVenture 2021

Here’s our first report from the EAA’s AirVenture 2021, in the form of photos. After a year off due to the COVID19 crisis, early estimates point to a resumption of the same levels of attendance seen at 2019, with just a few differences.

Some areas of participation were up significantly, like the Antique/Classic aircraft participation which was double from previous high marks in years past.

Some 18,040 air operations were recorded by the control tower through the Thursday of the show, about the same as in 2019.

There was a noticeably larger than normal military presence in 2021. The Air Force’s Special Operations community was well represented though a number of seldom-seen aircraft and aircrew participation.
