Morning light at KPHX

By: Category: FriendsPHXSpottingUncategorized

In the next couple months, the Valley of the Sun temperatures will be slowing coming down. And when the temperatures come down it make s for some outstanding Aviation Photography. The next couple weeks will be the start of my spotting season. We look forward to seeing all of the Aviation Spotters at our local airports. If you see someone with a camera don’t be afraid to walk up to us and say hello. It is a great to be out at the airport taking pictures, but its better when you have great company.

The First CO 762 To Be Retired to KGYR

By: Category: GoodyearUncategorized

The first Continental 767-200 (N68155, 767-224ER, CN 30434) to retire from the new CO/UA fleet and was flown into Goodyear, Arizona (KGYR) today for storage. This aircraft was introduced into Continentals Fleet just over ten years ago and is the first 767-200 to retired from the fleet. Rumors are that is was bought by a Russian Carrier but that can not be confirmed. This aircraft has flown many miles spanning the globe and visiting such places as Zurich, Glasgow, Milan, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, and more.  But I know that this 767-200 will see the be up in the clouds real soon.

Eventually I decided I was going no matter what and made sure I had Saturday free. I left for Coolidge around 5 AM (30 minutes late!) and thanks to the lack of traffic, made it to Coolidge around 7:45 (after getting slightly lost).
I had a completely different idea of the airport and the fly-in, first of all, the hangar is a massive WWII hangar that’s still mostly original, and there’s no fences. Yes, no fences...
